Re: New kingshouse prices

I was at Sutton on Sea, a small seaside village on the Lincolnshire Coast at the weekend. I used the public loo to find that they had installed a 20p barrier that included contactless payment! Impressed with the system, but not with the theory. Fortunately, not operational yet, I'm sure they'll have...

Re: Can I 'claim it' dilemma?!

I "summitted" Spidean Mialach, but after seeing a photo of the summit some months later, realised that, in the clag, had failed to get to the actual summit, albeit, by a couple of metres. However, I have currently "claimed" it, but know full well that, If I ever compleat, I will ...

Arkaig Epic - Gairich to Sgurr na Ciche

The Arkaig Trio had been on our agenda for a couple of years but weather had caused two cancellations. Early July was looking good so our plan was to camp up on Thursday night and have a couple of days to climb all the hills, returning on the Sunday. However, with England playing in the WC semi Fina...

Re: Beinn Resipol hill race

Excellent Kevsbald. Enjoyed reading that, tempted to do this event next year, I've hiked Resipole and I can well imagine the final K was tough to the summit. Its a great way of getting up and down the hills, especially when time is limited!!!

Re: Music with a hill reference in the title....

Turgid calls the winter charge True adventures of awaking hearts Nights are overwhelmed by gloom We will see foxes in the moon Valleys drop, mountains rise Lift your head, brave the skies All of the forgotten names Lakes are forming on the pockets of your brain And there in the distant glow A shadow...

Re: stone stacking on beaches, bad or ok?

I have no idea why on earth people have a problem with this. I'm pretty sure a lot of the times its just kids playing, they see one, so they decide to build one (just as me and my lad did the other week in Glen Feshie). Pretty sure they get knocked over / washed away eventually What next? Lets have...

Re: Cairngorms advice

Hi WC, You and I appear to have frequented similar destinations over the years. It was my first visit to Cairngorm's last year for a weekend and I did as follows Day one - Evening - Quick Hike up the Cairnwell Three from the ski centre. Then drove up to Loch Muick and camped in the trees just near t...
