This is a great post and the reason why I'm getting into this sport, cant wait till I have the know how to finish work on Friday and just head off in the car and not return till Sunday, and reading posts like this makes me want it even more. Thanks John

Brimmond Hill

When approaching this in car it didnt look much and wasnt going to bother, but glad I did because had loads of paths on it, started off in a car park turned off main rd just after Kingwells roundabout, very steep at beginning and didnt think it would take long but as I climbed the sides of this hill...

Bennachie Oxen Craig

Well went back up Bennachie Oxen Craig side just to get my first blue balloon, unfortunately very cloudy at the top but lovely views from Little Craig, but showed some in-experience when not looking at time I started off so dont know how long it took and looking forward to going back doing both tops...

Thanks Nicky, one more thing when buying a map is it for that particular area say Mount Keen or the greater area

You may be planning a Munro in April - that doesn't stop you getting out below the snowline, practicing map-reading and getting fitter before then. Getting Started

I need a bit of help getting started bagging first Munroe, I'm wont be ready till April and have most clothing and list of gear to bring, where is best place to learn how to read maps, or get route maps to show where to begin, when tackling a Munroe is it best to start off with lowest height or some...
