Re: Skye - Potholes

We had a a bad experience at the Quirang a few years back, hitting a deep pothole in a passing place and splitting the tyre so badly the repair kit didn't work. The trip with the recovery driver was very enlightening, he was very critical of the influx of camper vans which break up the weak roads a...

Re: The North Loch Mullardoch Munros - a cautionary tale

Glad all turned out well in the end. Enjoyed reading the report, the more open and honest these are, the more i can learn from them myself.

p.s. great photos, that walk is on the must-do for this year!

Re: Corrour 2 bike n hike

Thanks for sharing this route!

I am pretty sure that Beinn na Lap could be added to this, I assume the track looked as though it kept going to Loch Ossian?
Really tempted to give this a go, thank you for the report.

Plenty others have done this walk before me with great walk reports (thank you to @gman whose post helped me out - https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=30522 ). I'm sharing this really for the GPX to show the route I took with the mountain bike. I had been looking over route...

Yes please for any updates, I'm hoping to do these 2 next weekend. Found a few alternatives to the WH walks from the walk reports.

Many thanks

Re: Mulladoch Ferry

Just spotted a post within last hour that Angus won't unfortunately be resuming service this year.

Wishing him well

Re: Campervans

This thread makes me laugh. I have a campervan. I've never parked in a stupid place, never left anything behind me. I am constantly stuck behind the 45mph brigade and get as frustrated at the dawdlers as much as anyone else. Caravans. Oversized caravans towed by underpowered cars has to be made into...

Re: Alltbeithe Youth Hostel by bike?

Thanks for the replies @Boriselbrus, @mproudfoot and @backpacker That's all super-helpful, thank you. I am quite confident on the bike, but its clearly a big day. Alltbeithe Youth Hostel by bike?

Hi I’ve just been reading the following (excellent) walk report by @gman from 2014 where they did a single day route of the Alltbeithe munros from Affric https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=42583 Just wondered if anyone has done this route recently? Thinking of doing this i...

Re: Mountain Bike World Cup Event - 21/22 May Fort William

Wow. Didn't appreciate that size of crowd. Cairngorms it is :D

Fantastic to see these events returning though. Sure it will generate a lot for local businesses

Mountain Bike World Cup Event - 21/22 May Fort William

Just a heads-up if you are thinking of any hills this weekend in the Nevis range (as I was). There is a Mountain bike world cup event being held in Nevis range ski centre over 21/22 May. Sounds like there will be very sizeable crowds in that area. I was heading for the Grey Corries but am going to l...

Re: Strathfarrer 4

If you are doing the 4 munros, I definitely recommend West -> East as the direction. The east side of the route is a total bog, best leaving that until the end! I posted a few weeks about the second gate that's appeared down the glen at the edge of Braulen estate. Loads of room for bikes around it a...
