Re: Post-work fury-bimble

Chris What **** arranges meetings Friday afternoons. We had an MD in the eighties, who would only hand out cash expenses at 5;30 on Friday. Surely a man of your undoubted intelligence would be able to fake (or maybe cause) an internet outage at the appropriate time. Alternatively a cardboard cut out...

Re: Gear Review: Dehydrated Backpacking Meals

I regularly use Ainsley Harriotts roasted vegetable couscous for pre-match tennis meals and they work well, getting me through 2-3 hour matches.
Next visit to Scotland I will be stocking up for overnight stays. Adding nuts, dried fruit, tomato and cheese for a real blow out.

regards

Re: Stormy Walk on Binnein Beag & Binnein Mor

Angus Good report, straightforward to read and informative. I like to place the map at the start of the report as I'm keen in reading reports on alternate routes e.g. I did consider your route to cover the four Eastern Mamores but ended up starting from Kinlochlevin. I recall the ascent of Binnein M...

An Teallach - you're the tops

Since the WH website has added Munro Tops to the hills I’ve been distracted by yet another list to tick off. Five years ago I didn’t even know Munro Tops existed; now they have to be included in the plans. It turns out our first Munro Top was the first 3000’plus hill climbed (Sgurr a Fionn Choire) b...

Gran Canaria - Tamadaba - Faneque spur

If you love the solitude and emptiness of the West Coast of Scotland you will hate Gran Canaria. The drive from the airport around the East coast to the North of the island is unremitting, low quality sprawl. As you get to the North coast this breaks up and at the end of the dual carriageway is the ...

Re: Fisherfield 3 via the east ridge of the Mullach

Chris Great report and photos, I've been looking at the route up MCMF for next year so your report is really helpful. The unusual geology has fascinated me and I cant resist a scramble up the Gneiss, even though it means splitting the Fisherfields into two or three visits.. I managed to take of phot...

Mullach nan Coirean only

$matches[2] This was intended to be a double header with Stob Ban but using the standard WH route but the weather was grisly and visibility poor when we got to the first peak. There was no way we would enjoy the onward route so we retreated back to the car. The good bits were wet and the wet bits s...

Stob Coire Raineach

$matches[2] The one that got away when we attempted Bidean nam Bian and Little Bookle in the same day https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=102230 Did this in lieu of a bigger hill because of poor weather. A wet drizzly day, started from the A82 car park. Sky cleared momenta...

Re: Eyeing up those grade 5 walks

I can only comment on the ones I've done (since I was 60).. The Ring of Steall scrambling is relatively straightforward. If you wanted to avoid the main scramble you could just do a circuit of the Western three Mamores (including the Devil's ridge) or maybe the Binnein Ridge. An Teallach - approach ...

Re: Ben Eighe full traverse

Have you considered doing the full traverse from the Sail Mhor end and downclimbing the Black Carls on the way out.

Have a look at jmarkb's report for 18/10/19 - Beinn Eighe's scrambles - In Victoria footsteps or the Cairngorm Creepers report on the Sail Mhor scramble.

Cul Beag - Assynt

$matches[2] $matches[2] After an almost empty Beinn Bhan on Saturday we were the only people on our next hill on Sunday. I had hoped that the Assynt hills would be clear enough so more in hope than experience we drove up to Kylesku to have a look at Quinag; a nice triple Corbett would boost the sta...

Re: Fisherfield 6 from Corrie Hallie & a case of mistaken ID

Well done and thanks for a very useful report. As a matter of interest why does everyone seem to do the circuit clockwise. Would it be easier to find the long route to Ruadh Stac Mor earlier in the walk and if excessively tired miss off the Corbett at the end? I suspect there may be an obvious answe...
