Re: Search Function

Sadly not. A search of much more than 100km (a 200km circle) could either really slow the website down by returning >1000 walks, or would require for the results to only show a random assortment on the first search (which is what used to happen).

Re: Search Function

We've updated this with a new version, which makes Google search possible as an option. If looking for a walk, the walk search is alot cleverer in looking for walks that fit your needs based around a specified location (all these other types of searches do have search boxes that can be used alone, i...

Re: Cairngorm Ski Road

It's closed. Doesn't make me very happy, but guessing it they will only want to open if & when HIE can open their Cairngorm Mountain cafe & shop.

Re: Search Function

Thanks. This isn't all finalised, and we may end up with a Google Search as one of the search options, with suitable wording around privacy and ads we can't remove.

Re: Hills Maps Not Working

I've just been to all your hill maps pages and they all appear to work fine to me. It could be that you have a corrupt file in your browser cache, in which case it will eventually go away (or you could try a hard refresh). Alternatively there could be an issue with your setup - which browser you are...

Re: Return of the errant deleted Marilyn...

Thanks Malky, have zapped it. Much easier to do now, even if it did create a few of these glitches!

Re: Glen Trool - Southern Upland Way

Thanks for mentioning this - always good to get feedback (there's a link to send us feedback about walk routes directly at the bottom of each walk description, which would be the fastest way to get a response). We've amended the route for the part of the SUW that has been abandoned. The cycle path d...

Re: Search Function

Two different things being covered here. Hopefully the route search is better than what there was before - it's certainly getting use from far more people. From susanj post onwards, I think we're talking about the list of all new search functions being where there used to be Google search. It might ...

Re: Links to Routes on ViewRanger app removed?

Need to distinguish here between our GPX files, and the Premium WH routes you used to be able to buy in Viewranger. The latter included the full offline route description and photos etc. GPX files., on the other hand, are the route line data with no description etc. We make these available for all o...

Re: Links to Routes on ViewRanger app removed?

Viewranger should still allow you to use any WH routes you have purchased within Viewranger. It's just that nobody can purchase any more routes now - so if we kept the link, it would just be a broken link for everyone else. You can still import our GPX files into Viewranger as well as OSMaps (or man...

Re: Beinn Udlaidh - Beinn Bhreac Liath new plantation forest

There's a complaint in with the access officer about the fence. If anyone else who has seen it wanted to raise it as well it will help get a stile put in sooner.

Re: Long distance walks under new lockdown guidelines

Sorry, that is correct (and the original post has been edited). But sadly doesn't help with any wider recreational travel. Arguably it might permit wild camping in your own local authority - will see if any clarity on that, but probably not helpful for most people.

Re: Long distance walks under new lockdown guidelines

The Scottish statement has now been made. Basically, we are staying in level 4 until 26th April. [corrected] At that point it is hoped that all Scotland will be moved to Level 3 restrictions. However, under Level 3, there is still no travel for more than 5 miles outside your local authority area. Su...
