Re: April 2023 bridge still closed

The bridge was open for a brief period in that time. It’s actually a council Core Path, as is the riverside path, and so both should be reopened when work is complete.

Re: Advice for bagging all the Munros in a single go.

There are some really tricky issues here. I do think people should avoid making too many assumptions about Patrick which we cannot be sure of; nor do we know details of exactly what happened on the day. His friends and family could very well be reading this thread and I don't think any of us would w...

Re: 0 (Zero!) Munros in Bagging Map

There have never been any hills bagged, or posts made, from this user account, so I'm guessing you have another forgotten Walkhighlands account on which you have logged your hills?

Re: WH walk pages forced to open in app

This only happens in Android - where it is default behaviour for this sort of app - and you can turn it off. Go to: Settings -> Applications -> Walkhighlands -> Open by Default -> Deselect 'Open supported links' If wanting to open a page in browser rather than app just once, you can open the website...

Re: Closure of Hopes Reservoir car park, East Lothian

The blinkbonny woods side where I parked was empty as it often is and there’s plenty of space there other than on the occasional busy summer weekend. Is that the latest? We used to have the parking as being at Blinkbonny Woods but got complaints and when I went to check, chains were being used to p...

Re: Select multiple walk routes on a walk report

Sometimes people have posted one report about a whole holiday or series of routes - though as you say we only allow each report to be connected to one route. The feedback we get from people who use the reports (to help plan their own outings) is that it is preferable for reports to be split into sma...

Re: Other walks

Our walks are chosen to have a suitable spread of difficulties and locations, whilst avoiding causing unecessary issues around parking etc. - or with the people who developed the walk. All routes are walked by ourselves. Are you from an organisation promoting walks? If so there is info on our about ...

Re: Walkhighlands site access issues

Possibly your ISP has given you a blacklisted IP address that previously was used by a spammer/hacker. If that's the case, rebooting your router will most likely fix it.

Re: How to install the app

On an iPhone, you need to scroll slightly on that page so that Safari's buttons appear at the bottom of the screen, then press the 'Share' one (which is the one in the middle), then 'add to homescreen' as it says. On an iPhone, adding the app to your homescreen installs it (Apple don't use the word ...

Re: Sròn a' Choire Ghairbh and Loch Lochy hydro scheme

Just to update that there IS still parking for hillwalkers at Kilfinnan during the hydro works (which, if they go ahead beyond the current exploratory works, will last a decade or more). There are 6 spaces for walkers' cars just beyond the cabin at the works entrance. More space made be made availab...

Re: ChatGPT's advice on the Arran Route.

I've played with the new AI chatbots a bit, and they are brilliant at writing very convincing text. But as said above, in order to be convincing it just makes stuff up - which isn't great if you are looking for accurate real info rather than some nicely written text. I think that as the AI bots inev...

Re: Route Planner

A double click ends the route (permanently). You need just a single click on an existing point to delete it, and that allows you to continue plotting more points.

Re: Feet or metres

Although we use metres throughout the rest of Walkhighlands, I think the Wainwrights is a special case. The list is the personal choices of AW Wainwright who used only feet, and some of his summits are quite minor and don't even have OS heights. As it's his personal subjective list, we decided to fe...
