Re: All New "Where's the Pic?" for 2010

yes - well done.
Photo taken looking back from the descent off Maol Chin Dearg into Glen Shiel ( i know i should have carried on to the end of the ridge but I had done the 4 most westerley peaks the revious day and so didn't see any point leaving myself further from the Cluanie than needed to

Re: All New "Where's the Pic?" for 2010

No not the Buchaille either. I am ransacking my photos to see if I have a clearer shot or wider shot or something. Think everything I have would give it away too quickly. This is the approach to it. Go along the ridge right in front, turn right at the end and you are on top of all that crumbling fra...

Re: All New "Where's the Pic?" for 2010

Because I have been looking at the timetables earlier this week, even I knew there was a boat to Rum. Caberfeidh - I hope you're the stoker and not the driver of your ferry ( driver, pilot, or cap'n or whatever they call him . Just in case I can claim winning rights, I 'll stick a photo ...

Re: All New "Where's the Pic?" for 2010

Can't remember the proper name but it means something like Hill of the Mossy Summit or something - I liked the name when I was labelling my photos 2 months back. It sits in front of Ladhar Bheinn on the way out of Mallaig anyway.

Re: Breaking the half century at Bridge of Orchy

Oooh No - Mountain Coward. Best Go straight up Choire Achaladair first of all. Then you can choose 1) whether to go up to the bealach or straight up the really really grassy west side of Achaladair (it cuts at least a half hour/hour off the trip - it really is safe ) and then go on to Creachin. Then ...

Re: Aonach Eagach ridge and public transport

I second what Milesy posted - to a degree. Most Citylink drivers are quite accomodating. Some will even tell you where to stand for a request stop for the return. However back in October, I went to Ardgarten to walk to Lochgoilhead and back. On the way there the driver told me the stop at the Caravan...

Re: Loch Lochy munros in rain, cloud, snow, sun, wind...

Last March I had one of the best views ever from a mountain top - all the way to the Skye Cuillins, when up on Sron. I had a companion with me who I kept quiet on the summit by telling her (and this is not a lie) that I had read there is a visitor book in a coffee jar inside a small wooden box at th...

Re: Crampons

Golly Donny W Can I just say that is a cracking photo - though if I was being flippant I would say it looks as though you ar epainting the mountainside white with a roller brush!!! I don't have a problem with heights but I probably wouldn't go there without a hoverpack or parachute let alone flexibl...

Re: Crampons

Thank You for elaborating "Beth at the Hug"

I hate shopping so am working on a fiendish plan to persuade my friend to either sell or put his crampons on e-bay .
After all - at least I know they work so well on a rather flexible boot going up some pretty good mountains

Re: Crampons

by kenny stewart on Tue Apr 20, 2010 2:36 pm Hi Blue Bear, I believe your boots you are using don't have a rating and are classed as a 2/3 season boot. therefore your boot would be to flexible for a crampon you have just enlightnened me to a strange thing thta happened recently. I had been using my...

Re: A neck full of pine needles on Beinn a' Bheithir

I didn't encounter the quarry but I certainly found the little track up the side of the waterfall and through the pine trees. They are a pain. But then the view from the top or even the bealach is wonderful on a clear day - especially the Paps of Jura. Mist came down after completing Dearg, couldn't...

Re: All New "Where's the Pic?" for 2010

Blimey - you mean I've won. I think at this stage I better pass the next go to you again Fingeez. Reason being I have just spent 2 weeks labelling about 2200 photos of my travels. If I upload a "mystery" photo then I suspect the file name would appear would appear below it and give the ans...

Re: All New "Where's the Pic?" for 2010

Is it taken from the road between Achmelvich and Clachtoll, west of Lochinver? I know the 2 big lumps - having been up the one on the right. But before I proffer the names of C***** and S*******, thought I would check you don't mean the teensy bumps at the left of the pic which are probably Ben More...

Re: Well Chuffed on Islay

What rotten luck eh! Your B & B served a fry up and in the opening paragraph you say you had gone all that way to spy some cornflakes....or ...did I read that wrong?
