Re: The Full Pirnmill Thrill: Beinn Bharrain to Meall nan Da

Good report. I was up there at the end of May and my next report will be a similar route, minus the Marilyn. We were lucky enough to have perfect weather, so I got some good shots of the view from the summit. The scrambly ridge is certainly interesting. After doing the first bit, I decided I'd proba...

Re: The last and a first - Rhinogs traverse and wild camp

Great report, and well done on your Welsh Hewitts compleation and first proper wild camp. Also good to see some pictures of the Lleyn Peninsula, as I'm off to there in just over 2 weeks' time - for a family holiday, but hopefully I'll sneak in the odd walk. I know what you mean about the Rhinogs bei...

Re: Sunrise on Ben Starav

Thanks everyone! It was difficult not to take good pics in such a place in such conditions. The new Ixus 240HS helped though. These were the first proper set of pics I took with it. I might have met you Leithy if I'd carried on. But two were enough on a day like that. Soulminer, I'm only qualified a...

Sunrise on Ben Starav

Beinn_nan_Aighenan.gpx I was due to meet up with my friends for a week on Arran - but first I had to feed my Munro addiction. The plan was to bag my remaining Munros in Glen Etive. I had already done most of the Glen Etive hills individually in winter, but had Beinn nan Aighenan and Meall nan Eun s...

Re: Boats, burgers and Biological Warfare

I stop to collect a sandstone pebble as a valued souvenir That brings back some memories. As a kid in the early 70s when the island was out of bounds, I picked up a pebble from the beach opposite on the mainland and kept it for years. I used to call it my "anthrax pebble" Great repo...

Re: Bottle or Bladder

Like Caberfeidh and Klaas, it's an old juice bottle for me. Me too. I normally take a 500ml supermarket bottled water bottle, and refill from streams or campsite taps, recycling and replacing it for the next expedition. I agree with Klaas that you don't really need to hydrate all the time. Having s...

Baby Adder on Arran

Arran Adder for web.jpg We saw this little adder on the path in Glen Rosa, Arran on 2 June 2012. My friend Andy had previously spent some time looking at wildlife in the Glen and claimed to have spotted 6 the previous day, including having sat on one when he stopped for a break! He said the art was...

Re: Our Cold Blooded Friends...

The path up Glen Rosa on Arran is really good for adders, but they're difficult to spot unless you don't look for them  My friend claims to have seen about 8.

I have a picture of one which I intend to post shortly.

Re: Ben Starav

I'm planning to head up there on Saturday, so thanks for the pictures. I was wondering if there was any snow left. Looks like I can leave the ice axe behind! I've already bagged Ben Starav in winter, but need to go back to tick off the remaining 2 of the group and seems silly not to revisit Starav w...

Re: Fisherfield 6 - Dooterbang 200...and one!!

Great report and nice pix. Makes such a difference to have good weather. Re the debate whether to wild camp, bothy or do a day trip, we biked the gear in to set up a wild camp by an alder grove in Strath na Sealga, from which we made two day trips to bag the 6 (plus I bagged the Corbett above the ca...

Re: Canada - Banff - Sulphur Mountain

What a great family day out! My 4 year old son would love that (and so would I).

But just imagine the outrage if they were to build one of those boardwalks to the summit of Aonach Mhor or Cairngorm

Re: Forum changes

Have you changed the font? It looks awful (on this pc at least) - much less readable. The headings and breadcrumb trail in particular look like something's been nibbling the tops of them :(
