Hello everyone.

First post from me, with a question.

Does anyone know why Fan Y Big has suddenly appeared on the Hewitt Bagging map? As far as I'm aware it isn't a Hewit by the current definition. It wasn't on the list in August when I was down there and was about 100m from summit. Having bagged every other south wales hewitt on that long weekend, you can probably see my frustration and curiosity.

Has Fan y Big been remeasured? Has the definition changed? Was it always a hewitt? Am I going mad?

I believe ( having just read out it) that it was demoted from being a Hewitt in August 2018.
It was remeasured and was found to only have a 93ft drop rather than the 98ft required

So why has it suddenly appeared as a Hewitt on the walkhighlands hewitt map?

Is it some kind of a sick joke?

Usually regard the Hillbagging site as the up-to-date bible on all these matters, and certainly no mention of being a Hewitt there

I've never known this as a Hewitt, but I have climbed it more than once from different directions. In my book it's a Nuttall.

Apologies. We've completely rewritten all the code and changed the database used for our hill lists. Fan Y Big used to be a Hewitt until 2018, and as part of the change a couple of days back it got brought back. This was an error, and it's now gone again.

This might have affected other deleted hills - if anyone has a heads up on any further errors it'd be appreciated. On the plus side, it's now massively easier for us to make changes / corrections.

Hillbagging notes a couple of Hewitt changes in the Lake District dated 30/01/21 which I see you have already updated on Walkhighlands - Carl Side being demoted from Hewitt status whilst Combe Head (one of the Glaramara tops) is promoted. However the Hewitt page lists the total as 315 when it should still be 316 so not sure which extra hill has been removed (or if it is just the total that is wrong)?

Edit - to clarify I mean the Hewitt map page, the Hewitt landing page is correct.
