Loch Pattack shoogly bridge - fixed?

Loch Pattack shoogly bridge - fixed?

Postby SMRussell » Wed Mar 24, 2021 9:23 pm

Back in March 2020 the the Ben Alder estate stated that the shoogly footbridge that crosses the Chaoil Reidhe as it enters Loch Pattack was out of use [see Essan's post https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=95777].

Wondered whether anyone knows whether this has been fixed? If nobody knows I shall contact the estate.

Thanks.

Are you going to Culra? If you are walking or cycling from Dalwhinnie to Culra a better option is to follow the walkhighlands route unless you really want to cross the shoogly bridge. :D

Yes, it's been fixed

As an aside the MBA now have permission from the Estate to arrange for the removal of Culra (which has been closed for years due to asbestos) and build a new bothy on the same site.

Hopefully removal work will take place later this year and we will see a new bothy go up in 2022 or 23

Fab! Thanks both. Excellent news about Culra too. Headed in through a storm a few years ago and it was grim knowing the bothy was there but alas, a cosy bothy fire was not an option.

Cheers. I've headed in via the standard WH route twice before. For this trip we do need to cross the shoogly bridge hence why I asked.
