Pocket mountain books

Morning all,
A cautionary note. I recently purchased one of Paul and Helen's books, via Amazon, from a company called Wordery Online Bookshop. They charged me £8.21, when the retail price on the book is £6.99!!! :(

Was it out of print? In which case the higher price might reflect its popularity. As a former 2nd hand bookseller I have had people walk out of my shop complaining loudly that I was cheating them by trying to charge £10 for a really scarce 1920s book "When it says quite plainly on the cover that it is 2/6d"

Was delivery free though, or was it on top of that amount?

I'm sure the re-sellers can charge what they want. It works in reverse, as most will offer discounts on MRP or RRP.

It's just up to the buyer to decide

I tried to buy my daughter a copy of the Glasgow "Pocket Mountains" book, it must be out of print and only ones I could find online were £54!!! She will make do with the Clyde book. :D Bought direct from Pocket Mountains for cover price and FREE postage, great company.

Assume it was delivery costs on top

similary ordering book from link on wild winter article on this site

book is £9.29 but not until near end of ordering stage is delivery charge of £2.75 added

It is via bookshop.org - supporting local bookshops,

got so used to Amazon prime free delivery...

bottom line isn't everything

Delivery was free through Amazon Prime, and as far as I'm aware, the book is still in print.

Don't Amazon Prime charge about £8 a month for the 'privilege'. I know it pays for itself if you buy frequently (as many have felt obliged to do in lockdown) but not stricctly free

£7 quid a month for unlimited next-day delivery, its prices tend to be substantially cheaper than elsewhere and your money isn't going to HMRC. What's not to love?

I buy from Amazon too, but not via prime. I agree very little of amazon's profits goes to hmrc, which is a bit of a shame as they are currently enjoying a bonanza while scottish high streets are in demise
