How difficult is it to walk along the north shoreline of the loch?

Is that because it is difficult underfoot or because it is long and goes on and on and on (or a combination of both).

I've thought that it would be good to do the munros on the north side, camp near the west end, then do the Affric munros. I know the extremely fit can do the whole round in a day, but that would be too much for me.

The North Shore is a combination of shingle or cobbles, bog, slope traversing, heather, stream crossings and later on bracken all with virtually no heather.

You would be advised to plan for 3 days on the full round if not properly hill fit and regular out on the monros.

I done the Mullardoch/Affric Munros over 3 nights by starting from the Cluanie Inn. Camped near summit of An Socach first night, second night camped near the boathouse at east end of Loch Mullardoch, third night beside river at Gobh-alltan. Was not the best of weather but still it was enjoyable.

About 4 years ago I walked in along the north shore, camped then walked back out over the hills the next day. My memory is of a very pleasant walk, with a decent path for at least most of the way. Mind you, it might have felt differently if I had been trying to do it all in a single day!

Done the 4 last year in an anti-clockwise direction it took us 11.5 hours all in the walk back out along the loch seems to be never ending the path changed a lot from decent to fighting through ferns and crossing small land slips pick a day for good weather we had it truly stunning weather

I've done the north shore .. none too bad at all with path/traces of path .. the crossing of tte allt taige would be rather interesting in wet weather! ... if not lethal

The boat is fun and worth doing, a memorable part of the whole Munro experience. A lot speedier and closer to the water than sailing to Mull or Knoydart!
