Loch Ossian - which side to go down?

Loch Ossian - which side to go down?

Postby Martinweeks » Fri Apr 02, 2021 10:03 pm

I am planning to, hopefully, do a day walk from Corrour station out to the Geal Charn and Ben Alder area sometime this summer. I would like to cycle from the station to Corrour Shooting lodge, Can anyone recommend which route is the best side of Loch Ossian to use for a speedy passage??

Thanks
Martin

North side - a very good made up track.

I would confirm that. A few years back I went in to Corrour Station from the Moy area on my bike to reach Leum Uilleim and on the way in used the South side trail and coming back the one on the North side....no comparison re. the surfaces. :)

That's great, thanks, I would have probably gone down the south side as on the map it looks marginally shorter than the North, but I'll go for the smooth (north) side. All I need now is for the sleeper seated coaches to be reinstated!

Yep, the north side of Loch Ossian is a breeze on a bike - you can probably also carry on for a couple of Km east of the Lodge, as there was a new track built up to a new small hydro scheme the last time I was there (a couple of years ago)
