New lake District path - Central Fells

New lake District path - Central Fells

Thought this may be of interest to some on here.

There is a new "Pennine Way" style path over The Pewitts section between High Tove and High Seat - certainly makes one of the most notorious stretches of the lakes easier but I know this kind of thing isn't for everybody....

Good grief! The notorious bogs leading up to High Tove were the only source of interest on that hill and now they've been tamed. Overall I guess it's a good thing. They've done a much better job on this than the appalling mess on Sail.

We could do with a few thousands of pallets of those flags in the Galloways!.

I'm a fan, that looks good, in keeping with the dykes and will stop the paths becoming massively wide, good job.

It was a dreadful place in all honesty, not sure a good well made path is going to make it any worse.

I once sank to the waist on that section, so wouldn't mind using that path on a revisit. However, that sinking did teach me what type of vegetation not to step on, and further sinkings on various marshes have been avoided. Wainwright's Central Fells now needs a significant update for that route, particularly bearing in mind his comments, of course.
