Funny you say that. I did Beinn Àirigh Charr yesterday andhave never heard so many cuckoos!

Didn't find the campervans too bad en route home apart from when they were overtaking cyclists on blind corners. The folk driving Jags and BMWs religiously at 35mph were wayyyy more irritating.

I did Beinn a Chreachain on Friday, via Glen Tulla, and never heard so many cuckoos either!

Must have been about 20 of them between the farm and the remains of the footbridge.

(Two campervans in the car park when I got back).

There were plenty of cuckoos on the cycle into Glen Fyne at the start of my holiday, and we heard them on pretty much every hill walk.

I didn't notice a huge increase in campers tbf (I was staying first at the Saddle Hostel, then SC accommodation just outside Invergarry). I thought the A87 would be hoaching with them, but it was quiet all week.

For quality camper van chat I'd recommend joining one of the NC500 Facebook pages, whilst they have legitimate concerns over the behaviour of a minority of campers, the pitchfork and pull-up-the-drawbridge mentality of some of these lunatics who have settled in the Highlands but don't want tourists coming up to enjoy them as well is stunning.

Ignoring sweeping generalisations about vans I’d be more concerned that I got midged last night and also saw a few at munro level today

Lots of cuckoos and campervans on the north coast too today. No midges yet...

Yep, found some a few miles outside Inverness today. Not surprising, but a shame that the golden season for camping is now over!

We had a few at the top of Meall Dubh on Friday, which was weird because 1. There was a breeze and 2. It's wasn't exactly warm.

My little camper conversion is almost habitable. Looking forward to a few trips to the northwest to bag me a few hills in the coming months 😁
