Poolewe car parking

Poolewe car parking

Postby SummitViews » Sun May 16, 2021 4:40 pm

Planning to do the Western Fisherfields from Poolewe soon. I’ve noticed a small car park just off the main road in Poolewe , would that be the best / safest place to leave my car overnight ? Cheers

If that is full, which does sometimes happen, there is usually parking just up from the shop opposite the Bridge Cafe on the side road just over the bridge. Car crime is pretty much unheard of around there (I hope that's not 'famous last words'!)

We used the parking near to the shop and across from the Cafe for a couple of nights when we went in for the Corbetts... The off road parking at the entrance to the promised land was completely full of vehicles.

We used the car park in Poolewe on Saturday (we climbed Meall Meinnidh) and when we arrived at 8:30, it was nearly full. It is usually crowded on weekends, so important to be there early to snatch a spot :D

I remember that on another occasion, when we walked the Loch Kernsary circuit, we left car in a layby in the centre of the village. If you're badly out of options, there is a small car park at the start of Tollie to Slattadale walk though this adds about 2km each way to the overall walking distance.

Enjoy your trip, it's such a superb area!
