Stac Pollaidh camping spot

Stac Pollaidh camping spot

Postby maxie23 » Sun May 16, 2021 6:25 pm

Hi

Quick question.
I am going to be in Assynt at the end of May.
If possible, I would like to pitch a tent near the top of Stac Pollaidh in order to get some sunset and sunrise views.
Has anybody found a good spot to pitch a tent near the top.

Ta

The eastern summit seems to be the favoured spot for this - see https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=68176 and https://www.ukclimbing.com/videos/categories/hill_walking/stac_pollaidh_-_climbing_scrambling_summit_camping_whisky_drinking-5031
Doing the scramble on/off the main western summit could be quite awkward with a big sack full of camping gear.

Hi jmarkb

Thanks for the links.

Wilkie Murrays video was ideal, just what I needed to see. Eastern summit looks like the spot, weather permitting.

Second video was something else, especially the amount of whisky he drank at the top.

Regards.
