Cairngorms Area

Cairngorms Area

Hi WalkHighlanders

Can some of you good people please clarify a slight problem I am having, I started bagging pretty late in life so decided to bag just the Munro's in the Cairngorm region. I am currently on 52 and was thinking I was nearing the total but on looking at the walkhighlands site it says that some are in different regions altogether, eg Aonach Beag (Alder), Beinn Bheoil, Beinn Èibhinn and Ben Alder all say they are in the Cairngorms, surely this is not the case ( some are next to Ben Nevis) on the other hand Mayar, Driesh and mount keen show Angus but on the map it's the Cairngorms 🤔🤔🤔. Also on the official Cairngorm site they say there is 55 but I have 6 to complete which would make 58😬
Can anyone clarify with a list with all the Cairngorm Munro's
Thanks in advance Les

Easy answer. Mayar and Dreish are in the national park. The others quoted aren’t.

Unfortunately there isn't a single widely accepted definition of what constitutes the Cairngorms (which means you are at liberty to choose your own) - see this thread for a previous discussion on the topic: https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=88266

Yes, it is a bit vague, but you could use the National Park as the defining area. However, why not do the others anyway?

Are you sure 'some are next to Ben Nevis'? Are you getting your Aonach Beags mixed up? (There are two Munros of that name).

I do not understand where the figure of 55 on the park's website comes from - there are indeed 58 Munros in the National Park (though see the footnote here about the Drumochter Geal-charn https://www.trailrunningscotland.com/news/36/28/Cairngorm-Parkrun-Part-1-Planning ).
