Glen dessarry

Glen dessarry

Morning all
Looking to do the 3 Munro’s in glen dessarry and looking at the maps it would seem there is a decent track to the south that WH suggests going along. My question is, is this track decent enough to cycle along on a mtb.
TIA

Yes its a good estate road and fine for a MTB.

Have cycled in past the A' Chuil bothy. Its a few years since I was last there, track gets a bit rougher once into the next plantation if I remember correctly.

Yeah, it's an excellent track to cycle along and will save you some tax. 8)

There is a dilapidated footbridge to cross at around NM930934 marked on the 1:25k map.
It's a good place to leave the bike as it is not great for cycling after that.
All the best :D

I'd have thought it better to use the track on the north side of the glen, up to Upper Glendessary (and leave your bike there). It deteriorates rapidly after then and I'd not advise it for cycling on thereafter. The south track is longer, ends in forestry (by the aforementioned bridge) and doesn't really get you that much closer.

Yes I did exactly that. There is a path through the trees from NM930937 back to the bridge. The ride is very straightforward with just one very short loose section on the return journey which I walked (about 20m!)

From car park to car park in good conditions it took me around 8 hours. Much easier than I was expecting from the WK description!

Thanks everyone for the information. I walked with weesmudge on Sunday and we had an amazing day.

The midges at the start were as bad as Fife Flyer reported.
Taking the bike definitely saves at least a couple of hours on the day.
