Braeriach from Gleinn Eanaich

Braeriach from Gleinn Eanaich

Postby Orosay » Mon Aug 02, 2021 7:51 am

I’ve previously approached Braeriach from Sron na lairige. Planning to bike for the start and have some questions!
1) Is the loch eanaich track ok for a hybrid/road bike?
2)
Thinking of the SMC book route by Coire Ruadh ridge, but would rather avoid hard off path, how rough is the stretch from beanaidh bheagh to the ridge and how wide is the stream

3) would the Coire Dhondail option be better?

This is for August, in good weather, not going in low cloud

Thanks

I have been to the high ground via both of these routes. I just have an off-road bike without any extras and was fine on the path up from the start that I made close to the Memorial on the Whitewell road. Of the two ways the there is a path up to around 900 metres on the Dhondail route and probably around 600 metres on the Coire Ruadh/Lochain route.
Round trip? Up one and down the other. :)
As for roughness and the stream when I went not much of a problem.

Track to loch eanich.

Not doable on a road bike , it is with a hybrid just but much more enjoyable on mountain bike.

We did it on hybrids and enjoyed the day but they were at the limit of comfortable on second half of track

Crossing not an issue in summer but can be interesting in winter
