Beinn Dearg

Beinn Dearg

Postby paulG2 » Sat Sep 11, 2021 10:41 am

Hi folks.

I’m looking to do the Beinn Dearg 4 near Ullapool. Given how far it is from my home town I was going to camp the night before. Also B and B option out the window due astronomical price hikes. Anyway, does anyone know of any suitable car camp locations next to the start of this walk ?

Have you tried \Forest Way Bunkhouse? He is a walker, and keeps everything spotless.

Assuming you are travelling from the Inverness direction, the car park at the west end of Loch Glascarnoch (NH277743) or the one at the west end of Loch Droma (NH254755) would be reasonable options.

The forestry say car camping is not acceptable at Inverlael. You could camp a bit up the Glen without any issues I would imagine.

There is a campsite in Ullapool also.

All the best. :D

A good spot to camp at nearby might be on the approach to Loch a Bhraoin from the A832.
Park your car at the start of the walk described for the Western Fannichs and walk along towards the loch - some good spots here with access to a stream.
