Dress code for interview

Dress code for interview

Postby andyb535 » Fri Nov 12, 2021 7:49 pm

Slightly random question, but I've a job interview for an outdoor instructor and am unsure what to wear. Should I go in full rab gear or smarter, like a shirt and tie. I know people say dress for the job you want, but don't want to appear to be too casual if they're expecting me to be more formal.

If in doubt, shirt and tie. You can't go wrong with that. 8)

Ask if the interview is in the office or outdoors/casual setting.

This.

If it's office then perhaps dress smart but arrive in your Rab jacket which you can take off when you get inside. Best of both worlds.

Ex Chief Instructor here who has recruited many an instructor and been there on interview myself a few times. Currently run a national team of outdoor learning folk in schools.

Firstly - ask them the interview process (you say indoors, but I assume they will show you the centre), and how they expect you to be dressed.

If in any doubt then go neat - perhaps not full suited and booted, if you have it more chinos and neat shirt. (clean) fleece or jumper perfectly fine on top.

Can I ask who the prospective empoloyer is?
