Evening All,
Quick question. Wondering what the ascent is like from Bridge of Orchy. Looks straight forward on the map. Grateful for any info.

Yeah, it's straightforward. Follow the path/ant trail of people likely to be on the hill. Just make sure you get to the true summit before turning back as there are some cairns a wee bit before the summit.

Thanks. What would be a reasonable sort of time ?

For just Beinn Dorain on its own, going up and down the normal route, it's about 10km and 900m of ascent/descent on a fairly good path. You'll know yourself how long that is likely to take you, but 4-5 hours in good conditions would be reasonable.

It doesn’t take long to do both of them. I did both in four hours yet this site says 6-8hrs which is very generous.

Dead straightforward. But as mentioned earlier there’s a big cairn which can be mistaken for the summit in thick weather - it’s not, the high point is about 200-300m further on. There’s a nice wee “cheat” path now just at the 1080m contou, which sidles along the W side of the summit then swerves abruptly left to pop out exactly at the trig point. S

Definitely quite straightforward, and around 4 hours should see you up and back - depending, of course, on your fitness and the conditions, and how often you like to stop for taking photos, drinks/food etc. I'm always surprised at how long I stop, but I find the timings on WH are usually about right for me including stopping, but it's an impossible thing to judge as everyone's different.

There can be quite a lot of cornicing on the north eastern side near the summit, so if you're doing it later in winter or early spring, just bear that in mind.
I watched someone gaily taking a 'short cut' from the summit, across some cornices, a few years ago. He was clearly oblivious of the fact that there was technically nothing underneath him!

I can't remember how long it took doing both, but I'd reckon around 7 hours would be fairly average for most folk.

Thanks to everyone for useful info. Not sure when I might do it but it won't be before next summer anyway. Something to look forward to
