Walking up to Lochnagar

Walking up to Lochnagar

Postby Munro22 » Fri Dec 17, 2021 4:15 pm

It is some years since I have walked up to Lochnagar.
Before I could write a real report, I have to get all my details first.

So I am just asking here: Who else has been there?

In those days I was living in Dunndee.

I'm not sure I understand your query.
I've been there several times, but I can't remember an awful lot about the approach, other than it being pretty straightforward. Obviously, the time of year and conditions have a bearing on that.

What is it that you need in order to write a report? Most people take lots of photos and then use those to write about the walk . :)

What is there NOT to understand?
I asked the simple question: "Who else has been there?"

Must I now defend my question?
Then I take it back if that creates a problem.

I had thought that my question would be normal and understandable.

I just see a typing error of mine in the first posting.
I meant Dundee of course, not some "Dunndee".

Chill dude, it is an extremely popular summit. Plenty of walk reports etc.

I have been to Lochnagar a couple of times but it was near 30 years ago. I presume you are wanting to hear from people who have been recently and how they found the approach and ascent. There should be plenty of help from people on this forum.

To write a real report, i have to give a lot of technical details that i cannot give off hand.
But as I would like to chat about the topic of Lochnagar I have opened this thread here.
Is that so very un-usual?

The first time I was there was in 1973.
The second time I was there was in 1981 - or so.
And I just want to exchange some experiences.

I fear it is hopeless to have a simple friendly talk on the topic without being taken for a fool.
It is a pity ....

I eventually got there on my third try due to weather etc back in march 2017.

Got there on a sunny day with some snow making the corrie fantastic. I will probably go back on day, get some better pictures. I went up the stone "steps" from the east and descended to lock muick via the southern path.

It's really hard to work out what you are really asking. I have no intention to call you a "fool". I was just trying to help.

Maybe it's because I'm autistic, but I still don't see how asking people if they've been on a hill helps you with writing your report. If everyone had simply answered your query 'who else has been there' with 'I have' [similar to ScotFinn65 ] what use would that be?

If you just want information on the route, you can click on Bagging, choose Munros in the menu, scroll down to Lochnagar , and read other people's walk reports.

If you just want to 'chat about Lochnagar', it may have been better to say that, rather than being snippy with people. :)

OMG.

Yes, I just wanted to have an informal chat about walking up to Lochnagar.
I still wonder why is is so difficult to understand.
Is that so very unusual here?

It is YOU who is now very "snippy" with me.
I am new here and that was my first attempt to start a conversation here.

So that was now the result when I had hoped for a friendly chat about the highlands that I love.
Sad.
Very sad indeed.
I get attacked and get treated like an idiot when all I wanted to have was a friendly conversation.
