It's often disappointing about this time of year; we've had a bit of frost and snow just to give us a taster and make it all look nice, then comes a thaw - a big warm weather front which melts everything until all we have left of ski runs and snowy slopes, icy pinnacles and glaciers-in-the-making are wet, muddy hillsides. The real cold weather comes in late January and February, often lasting through April into May. Which is a bit disappointing for those who have holidays now.
