snow conditions

Hi all,
Happy New Year to everyone. Can anyone give me an idea if there is snow on Ben Lui or on the surrounding hills?
I was thinking of heading up there tomorrow but i would like to be prepared for the conditions.

Thanks for any replies.

The turbo thaw has stripped everything back to patches. Drove past Lui on the 28th and it didn’t have deep coverage then.
The weather forecast wouldn’t tempt me though. It’s one to be done on a nice day.

Thanks for the reply,

On reflection I agree, It would be my companions first attempt and I would prefer they get the " Alpine View " I seem to recall.
Change of plans then.
Thanks again.

We've just broken the record for the highest temperature on New Year's Day so I wouldn't be surprised if the Scottish mountains have lost almost all their snow cover, apart from maybe the Cairngorms and Lochaber summits.

Yep, It's been unseasonably mild. I was just curious whether any stubborn patches remained and what gear to take with me as i like to keep weight down.
Thanks for the reply.

It's often disappointing about this time of year; we've had a bit of frost and snow just to give us a taster and make it all look nice, then comes a thaw - a big warm weather front which melts everything until all we have left of ski runs and snowy slopes, icy pinnacles and glaciers-in-the-making are wet, muddy hillsides. The real cold weather comes in late January and February, often lasting through April into May. Which is a bit disappointing for those who have holidays now. Never mind, have some pics to whet your appetite...

I take it all back - we're having wonderful winter weather again! Woohoo! Still, I'd leave off the hills until things settle down... https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2646088
