2nd round if Munros

2nd round if Munros

Postby weesmudge » Sat Jan 01, 2022 10:45 pm

Here is a question for discussion
I have 11 munros to complete for my 1st round which are all about a 4+hr drive away.
Am I allowed to start counting my 2nd round now or must I complete my first round before I start counting again.

You are allowed to do anything you want!
If you are wondering what other munro baggers do, you will find that most do whatever gives them more ticks.
Which means most start their 2nd rounds, and even their 3rd rounds before they finish their first.

It's entirely up to you though. :D

Entirely up to you, as Sunset tripper says. Of course, while your outstanding Munros are logistically awkward, you could start a Corbett round on more convenient hills on days you can't travel so far. I don't think anyone's ever questioned the legitimacy of overlapping Munro and Corbett rounds! Or you could just do some sub 3000 footers for the enjoyment of it.

Oh, thanks for this guys. I'm on my second round and did 54 repeats before I finished the first round. My pals have all said the second round only starts after you have finished the first ! Second round now at 68 :D

They are all trying to stop you getting impossibly ahead of them Take no notice. Friend has done a Full House and was well over half way towards her second before she had finished the first. 2 rounds of Munros and a Full House are both outwith my reach now, so good for both of you.

I believe the two kinds of people are called golfers - the ones who have to do a full round from beginning to end as one entity - and... bankers, I think? Because they can keep hills in the bank until they need them, not because they're evil.

There's no rules, I'm of the opinion if you've done a Munro twice then the second ascent goes towards your 2nd round. 8)

This is correct, some purists prerfer to be golfers. Most multiple Munro baggers are bankers.

Thanks for the advice but is that my only options ? Banker or Golfer ?
Whats next, Estate Agent ? :D

Fortunately, I am planning on spending time doing the Scottish Long Distance Trails, so no attempt to do a second round !

If you climb any munro for a second time before completion of a round you are back to the start.
