Mountain Bike World Cup Event - 21/22 May Fort William

Mountain Bike World Cup Event - 21/22 May Fort William

Postby jayedubya73 » Wed May 18, 2022 8:01 am

Just a heads-up if you are thinking of any hills this weekend in the Nevis range (as I was).

There is a Mountain bike world cup event being held in Nevis range ski centre over 21/22 May. Sounds like there will be very sizeable crowds in that area. I was heading for the Grey Corries but am going to look for Plan B.

The Aonachs are obviously going to be near impossible from north.

A friendly share.

Sizeable is putting it mildly. It’s the biggest event in the area.

Best avoid the entire A82 south of Invermoriston.

There's generally around 20,000 folk there, the A82 on the Sunday evening is best avoided.

Brilliant event, all the best riders in the world on the home track of the sport. Even if you're not into it, it's a great day out.

Wow. Didn't appreciate that size of crowd. Cairngorms it is :D

Fantastic to see these events returning though. Sure it will generate a lot for local businesses

It's a fantastic spectacle and Fort William is regarded as one of the best events on the world cup circuit.

I've been up on Aonach Mor a few times but once walked up the world cup track. I have to say I had to do a bit of scrambling and by pass paths were used also!

Amazing to watch these guys descend with ease!
