Glen Lochay 5 ?

Glen Lochay 5 ?

Postby Kenny Raeside » Fri May 20, 2022 12:08 pm

I’m looking to walk Beinn Sheasgarnaich and Creag Mhor, then next day Sgiath Chuill and Meall Glas.
And round off the trip with Ben Challium.

Rather than drive round to Auchtertyre from Kenknock to do Ben Challium I’m wondering if anyone has done these as a loop of 5 from Kenknock.

If I’m doing the 5 then I’ll camp overnight between them somewhere.

Much obliged Jmarkb, that is perfect 👍
Thanks for taking the time to do a search for the trip report.

Is there a way to do such searches , or is it a case of having remembered seeing one previously ?

My memory is not that good! In this case, I just looked at the list of trip reports for Ben Challum at https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/munros/ben-challum to see if there were any with multiple hills (i.e M5 or more).

I did a very similar route, but without the camping a few years ago - might be of interest to you.

Hope you get good weather - it's a grand round.

Thanks Alteknacker.
I’ll have a look at that option and decide what one is the easiest !

At 63 years young, I’m afraid doing it without an overnight stop isn’t an option :(

I completed the route Tue / We’d this week.
I roughly followed the route that JmarkB was kind enough to provide a link to.
It was a bit tough going , according to my Garmin GPS it was 43k and 3660m climbing. Given that most of it was pathless and pretty boggy / peat hags it’s not a route I’d rush to do again, (and it rained all Tue night until about lunchtime Wednesday).
But, scenery was great, I enjoyed my own chat  , and surely it’s made me a bit fitter for the next outing !

Not necessarily an insuperable obstacle - I was also 63 when I did this round :) .
