Kerloch - any cows?

Kerloch - any cows?

Postby Katrina89 » Wed Jun 22, 2022 7:14 am

I’m heading up to Aberdeenshire tomorrow and am hoping to do Kerloch on my way up.

I’ve picked up the fact that there have been issues with cows in the past and am wondering if anyone can give me an update to whether they are still around/on the path please :)

Cheers

Someone posted a report on Kerloch recently, could be worth asking them I don't think they mentioned cows in their report.

Walking with kids as usual did an excellent report on it on Sunday with no mention of cows.

I’m interest in the answer as it one of the few Aberdeenshire sub 2 I haven’t done because of the cow issue.
Not doing a 3 hr return drive to have to ditch it because of cow hell.

Just dropped past Kerloch. Cows are oot :( met a guy coming down who said they were on the path further up. So we turned and walked away. Did Hill of Fare instead :)

An alternative is to use the forestry tracks to the west and ascend that way but I don't know how accessible that route is after the storms. A fair bit longer but cow-free route!

Thanks Kaitai.

Yes, there’s the option from bridge of bogendriep, One for the winter and add cairn mon earn to make it a worthwhile day.
