Braemar Mountain Rescue Black Spout (Lochnagar) warning

Folks, just a wee heads up, recent rockfall in the Black Spout area of Lochnagar, on the left wall just down from its junction with left hand branch, looks as if more could come down. If in the gully or below please be vigilant.

It doesn't affect summer walking so unlikely. The black spout is more well known as a low grade winter climb.

Black Spout while more frequented in winter, is used occasionally as a summer scramble, albeit a bit gritty. The atmosphere and surroundings are however impressive. The base will be approached by climbers accessing the Pinnacle wall area, and also those doing Black Spout Buttress (though many people may approach down BS and traverse in to avoid the lower vegetated half of the route). Anyone doing BS buttress may have had a good view of the suspect area.

Suggest you post on UK Climbing if you haven’t already done so, more likely to get information there.
