Route planning and water crossings

Route planning and water crossings

Postby Singinghound » Fri Aug 19, 2022 9:03 am

Good morning,

I am planning a route for some friends who want to walk a specific route at the end of September: Bynack More, A Choinneach, then descending via The Saddle, along to the Fords of Avon Refuge, and back up Bynack More via Lochan a' Bhainne.

I've just walked the route, and I have a couple of concerns about doing it in a day, apart from the overall distance!

But my question is this: the ford at Coire Odhar (NJ 048 075) looks like it has potential to be a challenge if there has been significant rainfall. Does anyone have experience of this or any other "high water" points on the route?

Grateful for any advice. I'd like to avoid a water crossing risk if I can!
