Out of action for a while

Out of action for a while

Postby 37lumleyst » Mon Aug 24, 2009 8:00 pm

Some of you might have noticed (I hope) that I’ve been ‘off the grid’ for a while – this is mainly due to work and a family holiday in France. Which is where I picked up this little beauty....

elbow1-c.jpg

Its a radial fracture on my left arm, the neck of the bone has broken very close to the joint in my elbow – I’d like to say I did it climbing in the French Alps, but as with most things like this, it was an innocuous incident that lead to my downfall (quite literally)

We had completed our holiday and were waiting for the ferry in Dieppe, so with 30 mins to boarding I was playing ‘footy’ with our 2 year old when I tripped and fell – putting my arm out to stop me, I heard the unmistakable ‘Snap’ as I hit the hard sun baked French soil. The saving grace is at least I did it on the return trip and not at the start of the holiday

Doh!

Oh, no! Sorry to hear that; I hope you recover quickly. If it had to happen, at least it was after the holiday and not before.

Yeah - you can still get yourself up those mountains - you just can't type the long article about it afterwards!

Thanks for the 'get well' comments from you all

Munrowalker is dead right - we only had 30 mins before the ferry left so it was a mouth full of Ibuprofen and a support bandage all the way to the UK and home - didnt get looked at untill Sunday morning. Saving grace ios they dont 'plaster' radial fractures so no harm done by leaving it 'undressed'

You can just tell I'm jumping up and down, sharpening a large knife and shouting "AMPUTATION!"
Go on, you'll hardly miss it....
