Ah so thats the view. When I was on there it was thick mist on my way to gt gable and only a compass reading I took stopped me from ending up back at honister suffering a major fail.

Tough one this Simon, not much in the pic to go on. Is it an off piste route or a main path you are using?

It's a recognised ascent from Wainwright's books, but most walkers reach this fell by other routes - none of which are Roman roads.

YB, I can see the resemblance to Steeple when approaching from Scoat Fell, but I'm making a direct ascent, and the photo's not a mirror image.

Peter, I can see where you're coming from, but it's not where I'm going - I'm interested to know what the second of your two choices is.

Other choice was bowfell just befire the climbers traverse but dont think it is!!
