Check out the BBC's weather updates and the photos of Jennys Lum at the 1102 update !!!

Hopefully nobody is risking it today although i was considering it, i reckon with the aid of only a jacket you could do Ben Cleuch to East Lomond traverse in around 15 minutes.

It's a scary stormy day... Not too bad in Edinburgh where I am yet, windy but sunny, although it's predicted to get a lot worse. I'm staying inside!

Gusting to 89mph at the moment, according to my little weather station. Set to get worse in a few hours they say. Can't say I'm enjoying this, living on an exposed hillside as I do.

MWIS has 120mph for the WHs today - for once it looks like an underestimate as I've already seen a gust of 104 in Glen Ogle on the Met Office.

Glen Ogle's like a wind tunnel. Everywhere else can be flat calm yet the Glen Ogle station is recording a hurricane.

I think the Cairbgorm one was much higher but that was the highest it could calculate and they would need to analyse the data manually to get the true figure.

The 173mph was in March 1986, current data and the archive from '90 is here http://cairngormweather.eps.hw.ac.uk/

FIne driving east toward Edinburgh on M8 this afternoon.

Was beginning to look like black Monday heading west toward Newbridge, though. Bridge is closed and the M9 was blocked. Glad I don't live in Fife and work in Edinburgh.
