Good luck with finding your dog tomorrow. Sorry I can't assist.
May be worth posting on other sites if you haven't already done so e.g. Scottish Hills and UKC.

Can't get over to help but good luck Electricfly. Other stories on these forums about missing dogs (even for longish periods) have all resulted in good news.

Agree with foggie's suggestion ...

Best of luck and stay safe tommorow. Reading this post made me feel sick at the thought of losing my spaniel on the hills - i know how much they mean to you - sorry i can't join you as am too far away and have limited winter skills, but my thoughts will be with you.

Thankyou for that Foggie.

There are 4 of us heading up so far, and will have a couple of ropes, so will hopefully get to areas I couldn't reach earlier today.

Thankyou to everyone and for all the support and well-wishes.

EF,

Not familiar with the hill any ideas what rope lengths u may need. I'll bring both I have to hand, one is about 50 foot climbing rope (dynamic) other is a caving rope (static) 220 feet !

I have no problem droping down and back up (i.e. if not possible to continue down) if needed as plenty of experience of SRT caving.

I'll take a 30m and a 50m climbing rope, Ross is bringing a couple of ropes too so should have more than enough.

It's hard to tell how deep some of the cavities are, there are small narrow slots and big boulder areas with well-like holes in them. Your caving experience will be helpful.

Most of my search today was spent around the areas I could climb down among using my axe and not having a rope was frustrating. What concerned me the most was the lack of any barking or yelping. :(

Good Luck with the search.

I'll see if I can get it put on the Clachaig fb page/blog too in the morning (as I work there)
