Where to stay in Fort William

Where to stay in Fort William

Postby Venneberg » Mon Jun 17, 2013 9:07 am

Hey there fellow walkers :)

I am to walk the West Highland Way this summer in July and have decided to book accommodation for the last stop on the way, Fort William.
Therefore I am curious to know if anyone have had a good experience about where to stay?
I do not require luxury but rather a cheap, reasonable place to stay with a bed ;)

Bank Street Lodge has done the job for me a couple of times - it's nothing spectacular, but right in town, reasonably priced and has a kitchen if you want to do your own cooking.

Wetherspoons have opened a Wetherlodge only 100 yards from the end of the WHW in Fort William, called The Great Glen. Accommodation, food and drink all in one place :D . I have previously stayed in the Bank Street Lodge and the Fort William Backpackers. Both do what it says on the tin but you deserve a little pampering after walking close to 100 miles  .

Hey, thank you all for your replies!
Very helpfull especially the link

I also stumpled upon this place:

Which seems to be a very cozy bunkhouse experience and also very cheap.

I have stayed at the Ben Nevis Inn a couple of times now, first before taking on the Great Glen Way and then after finishing the East Highland Way. The accommodation is good, basic and value for money, the food is excellent (if expensive) and the real ales are superb. Only problem is the distance from Fort William :( . Great place to stay if you are taking on 'The Ben'.
