Got a free day on Tuesday 16th Sep and was looking at doing either Ben Ghlas & Ben Lawers or Ben Vorlich & Stuc A Chroin........

Ben Vorlich and Stuc a'Chroin, if only for the token 'almost' scramble up Stuc a'Chroin.

(personally ) I would save Ben Lawyers until you wanted to do the round from the Hotel, bigger more satisfying day.

Either would be good. I couldn't really choose between them. As Caberfeidh said, I would let the weather decide, although since they're not that far apart it might not be a big factor. However, Vorlich is a slightly shorter drive and you would be passing it if you decided on Lawers. Decisions, decisions :D :D

If you're planning on doing both at some point this year then maybe going for Lawers first would be a good idea. Last November I did Lawers and had to ditch the car at the loch because the road ices up really badly. It was still completely achievable but made it a significantly longer walk than we had planned. Added another 200m of height gain and a couple of kilometres we hadn't factored in time wise. Haven't done Vorlich though so no idea if the road ices up badly there too.

Either really but you've got such a choice so as Caberfeidh says, why not hold off deciding until you see the weather foreacst nearer the time - cheers :)

if you did the lawers two you could go up beinn ghlas first then drop down the back of ben lawers. then when you get to the bealach you could nip up the good path to meall corranaich and bag an extra munro. then if you still havent had enough you could head out to meall a' choire leith.

Sound advice there, thanks..... looks like I'm gonna do Vorlich & Chroin quite like the idea of a scramble

Don't get too excited, the prow of Stuc a'Chroin isn't really much in the way of scrambling, more just a short steep bouldery bit. No real need for hands to come out of pockets.

Still a fine hill though and a real belter for summit camping.
