Fisherfields access during stalking - any info?

Fisherfields access during stalking - any info?

Postby Hill-loving lady » Mon Oct 06, 2014 5:49 pm

As I'm on school holidays as of Friday - woohoo!!!! - am planning a trip into the Fisherfields with Travis, his mum, Bob the Dog and a tent, assuming the weather gods are kind to us. The plan is to cycle in from Incheril to Lochan Fhada, and use there as a base for 2 or maybe even 3 nights.
I can't find any information re stalking there, and the estate(s) aren't on the website for advice re access/stalking.

Does anyone have a contact telephone number that will be of help? Don't want to head in and then be shot at or to interfere with their business either!!!

Many thanks in anticipation

This thread may be useful as it covers a similar topic. I never been to Fisherfield myself, but apparently three estates share the area and none of them are listed on Hillphones/Heading for the Hill website so you might have to do some detective work

Wouldn't have thought it a problem H, as long as you on paths which they are plenty off.

Hi, If it helps I emailed and asked the Glenfinnan estate the same questions for this coming weekend and they kindly responded with the following: "We might well be stalking but if you stick to recognised routes all will be ok"
I would conclude that they know the area better than anyone and will avoid the walkers areas where they will likely encouter people anyway. These guys are reasonable people and as long as we act responsibly there wil be no issue.
All the best.

Many thanks folks - have been in touch, and awaiting reply - the problem is more the fact we're not going in by the usual route via the bothy (which is closed atm ; I believe to accommodate the stalkers? Or feed them their lunch?))

Will keep you posted on the information received from the estate.

Shenavall is closed during the peak of the stag stalking season.
