2015 Plans?

2015 Plans?

Postby Fife Flyer » Thu Jan 01, 2015 8:32 pm

Following on from the 'how did it go' thread, thought I would see what plans we have in the next 12 months

Mine - hope to attend all the WH meets, that is a must, hopefully I can kick off the meets year with a successful gathering in April :D

Will be trying to get more days out than the 47 I managed in 2014 and reach the magic double ton of Munro's!

A visit to Skye is arranged so am in regular consultation with the weather gods

Glen Shiel is going to get at least one visit, definitely the CMD and few nearby hills, maybe even Torridon and Knoydart

Reach the halfway mark (141) on the Munro's

Brothers & Sisters & CMD are high on the list

Get the others into double figures

"attempt" to do the West Highland Way over 2 days

But above all, just go out and enjoy myself :D

Easy choice for me to focus on this year - finish the Corbetts. 92 to go. Would like to finish up with Beinn Dearg Mor & Bheag in the Fisherfields, we'll see.

Would also like to get the Munro Tops from 164 to 200.

Most of all though, just want to continue to be able to get out into the hills every weekend (and other opportunity) - at the end of the day the numbers are only the motivator to get out amongst them and matter little in themselves :D

Well... Hopefully will get to 141 Munros - half way...that means 61 this year.
I quite fancy including the Aonach Eagach ridge, and the corrour hills, and Ben alder - but to be honest, every new walk is exciting in its own right..
I'm totally with Weasel - the numbers are just an excuse to get out there

Lots of other non walking goals too...
Cycle 5000 miles including the Trossachs Ton and etape caledonia, swim lots including coniston end to end, and the length of Lubnaig.
Improve my skiing, winter walking course, run more than last year...
Etc etc

I agree... and I will be aiming for halfway on corbetts (or 111) :)

They're a wee bit more scattered about than the Munro's and I'm looking forward to visiting new places

I have a decently long list of aims for this year but who knows if I'll achieve any. Depends on weather, work, holidays, life...

I'd like to get to 20 Munros, go to the Western Isles and/or spend time up the west coast, do the CMD/Ben Nevis, finally do my local lovelies Mayar and Driesh, and attempt my first solo camp. The Buachaille is right up high on my wishlist for Munros too so hopefully can get out there in the spring.

I guess 20 seems not much but it would be more than doubling what I managed this year, so I think it's not too bad. And if I beat that target, I'd be extremely happy!

Finish the Central Fells (1 down 26 to go).
10 Southern Fells.
10 Munros.

Otherwise I think my ambitions are all recycled - finally get along the Berwickshire coast path, the Moffat weekend that got rained off last year, the last 2 Pentland sub2000s and the Covenanter's grave...

I would like to spend more time walking in Scotland, the problem is I don't want to spend less time walking in the north of England!

Main aims:

30 Munros, including a first visit to Skye
40 Welsh Hewitts
20 English Hewitts between Dartmoor, the Peak District and the Yorkshire Dales
Finish the Thames Path
Start and finish the Arran Coastal Path (and hopefully bag the 4 Corbetts there)

Need to squeeze in more free time to get out.......

21 munro's covered in 2014, not anywhere near what I would have liked although happy with the one's I managed to fit in the Buachaille, Bidean nam Bian, CMD & Nevis to name just a few

Target for 2015 is to end at 50+

Want to do the Forcan Ridge & The Devils Ridge (RIng Of Steall)

Have some more free time in my fave playground.......... GlenCoe

Expand my group of climbing pals

And my ultimate goal for the year is Skye...... is it not everybody's???

I'm hoping my niggling knee injury will be resolved and I can move on with the Munro tally. Wild camping trip with the G Kids hopefully in the offing too! Good luck to everyone with their plans.

I never know how optimistic to be but here goes with some ideas I'd like to strive to achieve:

Do a backpacking weekend with my first truly wild camp in Fisherfield, Knoydart, Alder Region or Affric
Visit Skye again for the In Pinn
Do the Arran Corbetts in June as we're going there for a week
Make it to half way on the Munros (141)
Make it to twenty Corbetts
Do the three Munros at Corrour Station by getting the train in
Meet more WH members for an arranged walk not just by coincidence on the hills
Get out somewhere on the longest day for a wild camp on a summit
Get a decent camera or go pro for recording my trips properly

Not much to ask for really
Hope everyone has a great 2015 enjoying Scotland

That looks like a really enjoyable year. Hope you get around to most of it.

I would like to get my Marilyn count over 1400 (62 next year), but the remainder are all either far from home, or far from the nearest track. :( :(

Living in Lincolnshire limits opportunities. However, 2015 goals are as follows:

Canisp, quinag and Ben stack in august whilst staying in drumbeg
Ben resipol whlst on the ardnmurchan in august
Beinn sgritheall and ladher beinn with a two day wild camp, hopefuly in june

1) steer clear of injuries to make the following possible.
2) The Pennine Way - doing it over 13 days in June
3) Finish my last 4 Cairngorm Munros - Devil's Point to Braeriach
4) Do the South Glen Shiel Ridge
5) Do some Munros with good sea views
6) I'm on 90, get that up to 130
7) and after listing my Munros, don't get fixated on them and just enjoy being out in the hills whether it be a sub 2000, Graham, Corbett, Munro or a good long distance track with no climbing involved.
8) upgrade my camera to be able to capture better shots of my days out (heading for Aberdeen tomorrow with this in mind).
9) head south for a change, apparently there are some hills in the Borders but I've never climbed any of them.
10) have the motivation to continue to get up at 4.30 every working morning (Mon - Thur) to go to the gym to help with my fitness.

I think that's enough to be going on with, hopefully come the end of the year I can look back and say I've done most of these............
