Campsites open in Winter

Campsites open in Winter

Postby Rory Shaw » Sat Jan 02, 2016 2:13 pm

Hi all, I'm looking for campsites in the highlands that are open all winter and have an electrical hookup for my van. I seem to be drawing a bit of a blank - most seem to shut in October. I know of the Glenmore campsite and the Glen Coe ski "resort" but struggling to find any more.
Thanks

Tragically the caravan park at Braemar seems to have been largely washed away. :(

Sunart Camping, Strontian - open all year apart from February
Invercoe, Glencoe Village
Sango Sands, Durness
Moyle Park, Glenelg

Ledgowan Lodge, no hook-up but use of bunk house toilet and showers

Shieldaig - no idea about hook-up, use of public conveniences

It's the Ballater camp/caravan site which has been washed away. Braemar should be ok BUT you can't travel east from Braemar as the bridge at Invercauld has been water damaged.

I think they are normally open all year but are closed this year until the end of February.

As Basscadet said the guy that owns/runs it is definitely customer focused and a genuinely nice guy
