Cycling to access Munros

I'd forgotten all about this but your thread reminded me.

We saw a bike on the walk into Ben Vourich, http://prog99.com/Hillwalking%20in%20Sc ... 00073.html

Made us smile and also made us wonder why we'd opted to walk the track

Just don't forget to take your helmet off. I've been more than halfway up a Munro after passing a few bemused looking walkers before realising I still had it on. They must have thought I was very safety conscious.

Hybrid will get you on most tracks an MTB would and its what I use now but they are definitely less fun if you have a good descent on the way home :D

I hired form Bothy Bikes Aviemore, it wasn't great, a hardtail, no issue there, but the tryres were a bit flat and when I got their pump out to harden them, the inner valve came out, I got it sorted - just, but it was a mission, they do get five stars, maybe I was early in the season and unlucky :(
On the same holiday I then hired from Ticket to Ride in Inverness; not much wonder they get 5* Great bikes supplied from people who care at reasonable cost

I've always been keen on bikes and splashed out on a modern large wheel full suspension entry level trek, its fabulous 8)
Had to push up the steep bits to the summits of these
Glas Tulaichean
Mount Keen
a couple of other Munro summits and loads of ride ins
An Sgarsoch and Carn an Fhidhleir

I'm in it for the fun and the views, and long slog marches in aren't for me

PS the first all suspension I got from Halfords was equally fun at very reasonable cost, think I got £80 for it when I moved on, a bargain to the buyer :!:

Go fun yourself
