The roof timbers are nearly complete and the Stone work looks very fine.

Good to see some pics! Thank you.

Plenty of work still be be done though and I guess it will probably be next year now before it reopens.

Must admit I hadnt realised just how much they were doing (effectilvely reconstructing the whole building) - I initially assumed it would ust be a few weeks work!

 Likewise, bit taken aback there but, can only be a good thing in the long run.

A further progress report on the Bothy. Today 28/12/2016.

Looks wind and water tight with the tarred felt? covering secured with battens.

Coming from the road end side the two wee cairns mark the much better path that a avoids all the washed out bits of the new path....leads to a much easier burn crossing. This path has been marked on the OS maps for decades...why the new path?
5 DSC01452 (640x360).jpg
The part of the path from Auchlean that was destroyed by the heavy water last December has been replaced with a new path that takes the walkers well back from the crumbled edge...well done the path builders who used the vegetation from the new to cover up the old path....good job done.

It has been a month since I last passed by RA in Glen Feshie. Further progress with the roof cover now complete and the windows are in place.
There were two folks working on the inside of the Bothy and two other folks working on the re-pointing of the old walls.

Progress as at 13/04/17.

Hello,
A wee bit further with progress at the Bothy....probable completion date after summer was suggested?

As found Yesterday.

I guess that one man's Tower is another man's pile of stones....it has gone.

The Feshie was low yesterday so easy to cross pushing the velo.

Not the best image to show the missing Tower ...you might say that it is hidden behind the tree branch :)
This one is just slightly better perhaps.

When I was there Mr Byrce the MBA maintenance man for RA was camped in the area and sorting out a few things etc.
The after the summer date was from his lips. Could be that the folks who own the estate will be here at that time and would then coincide with his forecast for the grand opening of the Bothy with top brass pesent? :)

There was a bit of talk recently regarding the current availability of the RA Bothy.
I was up that way on my bike today and found that work was still on-going with folks working on the stonework of the toilet area and work being done on the surrounds of the Bothy. It does look like a good, well worked upon piece of property . Could be a few more weeks before it can be used by hill going folks?

The stalkers track leading to the Lochan and on towards Mullach Clach a' Bhlair. Much underused nowadays but a grand alternative to reaching it by the land-rover track....maybe return this way ...it does need more use before it disappears under the heather growth.

I have labelled the trees the wrong way round....but anyway hardwood up here sign of habitation in the past.
My attempt to alter the labelling of the trees has worked out.:-)

Apologies....... I got the wrong topic.....instead of this one I got into the middle of a public caning for Mr. McNeish.
Maybe just to keep the sequence of images up-to-date I'll try again.

Trying to plan my zigzag-expedition through the Cairngorms for next spring. Any chance that this bothy is open by April 2018? The MBA homepage still lists it as closed.

Hello, fairly imminently I would say.
A friend of mine was up that way recently and he sent me a few images of the current position.
He was inside the building where folks were still working on the 'finishing' of the Bothy....looks as if they were in residence.
It would appear that the new stoves, one in each of the downstairs rooms, fit perhaps more easily in one of the rooms. Sleeping space upstairs.
It would appear to be five star Bothy accommodation.

Excellent news. Thanks gaffr. I'll be spoilt, but it might be a good starting point for the trip. Plan is to include also the more obscure bothying options in the Gorms for contrast. :)
