Ulva

Ulva

Postby ChrisSalt » Sat Dec 09, 2017 10:38 pm

I'm living in Edinburgh, ex wall climber and lots of walking. But 68 now.
Now, I want to walk to the West, and in particular to Ulva, a wee island off Mull trying to buy their own land back from the 'owners'. I'm trying to extort cash from family and friends to help their buyout.
Anyone got a route?
I can see from Dunblane to Oban, but Edinburgh to the Trossachs looks a bit dire.
I'm into 15km a day, 12 kg on my back, bivvy, out at the end of Feb when the bugs don't bite

Any advice appreciated

Cheers

Have you looked at the route taken by the Scottish National trail? It might give you a way west from Edinburgh. The other thing might be to look at Lands end to John o Groats blogs. Most of them seem to involve heading out of Edinburgh on the canal towpath.

I was going to suggest the Canal as a nice route from Edinburgh to Falkirk.

Thanks for that. In Scotland, my walking has been short - Aonach Eagach and around, just a night out - so I'm not sure. I have something to chew on now.

Mull is indeed fantastic...except for those ridiculous double decker buses sending it down the single track road from ferry to Iona and back...hate them
