Skye Trail Advice

Postby nick70 » Wed Jun 20, 2018 10:54 am

Hi there

Can anyone please advise me. Would gaiters be necessary (or helpful) for this particular walk? Are there any particular boggy stretches or burns/streams to be crossed?

Many thanks

When walking any long distance path in Scotland, having a pair of gaiters is never a bad idea.

If you mean Mr so and so Skye trail I would not bother with gaiters if you mean the original Skye trail then yes,I don't wear gaiters except in winter when snow is about.Everybody has there own preference it's all down to yourself whither you go with them or not.

What's the difference between "mr so and so skye trail" and the "original skye trail"?
Cheers

The original Skye trail started at Armadale in South Skye and crosses some pathless remote country for the first couple of days you actually follow the coastline of Loch Eishort to Torrin.

The book "A long walk on the Isle of Skye" by David Paterson gives a excellent discription of the route, there was a bit of a ballyhoo at the time when Mr McNeish jumped on the bandwagon to promote his waterdown version.

 long overdue, some transparency about the Grand Plagiarist's jottings.
