Ben Cruachan stile getting worse?

Postby JonetCol » Fri Aug 17, 2018 6:36 pm

Was up Cruachan summit on Tuesday in blinding windy rain. One of the few things I actually could see apart from the rain on my specs was that the stile at the end of the forest is becoming increasingly risky. An attempt to stabilise it with a piece of rope is now only moderately helpful and several nails are out/loose weakening the structure further. I'm told there is a nearby gap in the fence big enough to get through but my cursory glance revealed nothing significant. It may have been hidden by long grass or ferns.

Possibly safer if you've someone to steady the stile as you climb and return the favour for them from the other side but don't count on it!! Take care.

There's a sheep gate to the right of the style ( looks like a wooden giant cat flap) that's big enough for a human  Done Cruachan a few times but only braved the style once
