Beinn Loinne traverse

Beinn Loinne traverse

Postby grahamyarr » Sun Oct 07, 2018 6:37 pm

I'm thinking of going to do an east to west traverse this Thursday up Beinn Loinne and can get dropped off at the start. Does anyone know if you can walk across the dam at Loch Cluanie? If not is it possible to cross the river below by paddling? Hoping to get a shorter route than the one from the dam at Loch Loinne to allow a bit more drinking time in the Cluanie Inn!!

According the the SMC climber's guidebook for the area, yes, you can cross the dam. Probably only going to save you about 20 mins over the normal route, though.

Pretty sure that SSE have fenced off the dam in the last couple of years due to some kind of blanket H&S policy. They have done that in a couple of places.
