Full screen version of the walks map

Full screen version of the walks map

Postby sgurr_a » Wed Mar 27, 2019 10:49 am

One of the best resources on this site is the map that displays the location and routes of all the approved walks. Currently it's a pop-up window, which can be fiddly to navigate on small screens and doesn't use all the available screen space. Is there any way to get a full screen version of this map?

Seems like a simple thing, but I can't find a way to do this.

Thanks

there is a very good and detailed full screen route map of any of the walks on WH

so for example, go to the Walks drop down menu, choose Highlands, then Fort William and it will take you tot he areas in the region.

then click on (say) the link for Glencoe and Kinlochleven, and it will show approx 30 walks of different difficulties and distances.

click on one (say Pap of Glencoe)

and it will give you a detailed description of the walk, but on the right hand side of the screen, under "maps, apps and GPS", there is a link that says "view / print our online route map"

Click that link and it will take you to the the full screen online map which you can zoom in our out of and move around to help you navigate any other targets you might want int he same area.

Thanks, but I'm look for a full screen view of the map that shows all the walks in Scotland.
Currently, this only seems to be available on a small pop-up screen.

I see it as a full screen on my PC and on my iphone, are you accessing it via a mobile app? If so perhaps switch to the website itself?

If I follow your instructions I get a full screen map, but only for a single walk. I was wondering if there is a way of displaying all walks on a full screen map. Currently I can get all walks on the small pop-up map, as shown in the above attachment.

Hi, I'm afraid the reason we don't have a full screen version of the all-walks map is that it is very expensive server-wise to display it to lots of people; if it was a stand-alone page and attracted links we might end up having to delete it completely to keep things running. Sorry if disappointing, but having it embedded within other pages keeps it affordable whilst still meaning that it is available for those who wish to use it.
