If high tide is at 11.45am could one walk across starting at about 9am? I have no idea how high the tide would be between 9 and 10am. Anyone know?

There are a few Uig bays. Which are you referring to?

Might depend where in the cycle you are.
The Spring Tide represents the highest high tide and the lowest low tide, whilst the Neap Tide (which occurs about 2 weeks later) represents the lowest high tide and the highest low tide. Something that's perfectly achievable at one extreme might be sheer folly at the other.

There are roughly six hours between low and high tides therefore your plan means attempting to cross on a rising tide which is already half way in.

You should always seek out local knowledge and check local tide tables, but I'd suggest that you really should not attempt any sort of crossing under these circumstances.

I'm with Ben on this - the sea has a bad habit of producing waves much bigger than advertised

Someone was killed recently when she was swept off rocks on Harris by a sudden unexpected wave, and remember those illegal immigrants who were being used as slave labour in the Solway? They were caught and killed by an incoming tide which went faster than they could run. That's the Atlantic Ocean at Uig, it is so cold that once in the water you are unable to help yourself; don't fool with it. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-47638929
