Snow on the Carn Mor Dearg Arete?

Snow on the Carn Mor Dearg Arete?

Postby Samy Tetouani » Sun May 12, 2019 8:38 pm

Hi,
I am planning on doing the Ben Nevis by the Carn Mor Dearg Arete (https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/maps/map4_3fw.shtml) next week-end.

Can you please advise whether there is snow at the moment on the arete section between Carn Dearg Meadhonach and Ben Nevis?
If there is snow, do you recommend to do the climb with crampons? or normal hiking shoes will do?

Thanks!
Samy

I was up yesterday , it was absolutely fine , there was no need for crampons etc , as long as theres no snow fall during the week , normal walking gear will be suffice

I was there on Saturday (May 11th) and it was fine. Some thin patches here and there but nothing to worry about.
Have a great time
